    Welcome back!

Whether you’re organising a whole conference, a large meeting or some sort of training seminar, you’re likely to have given a lot of thought to who’ll be speaking. They’re a popular choice for events in education and business, so are motivational speakers worth it?Depending on the event and your choice of speaker they can be.

You can find an array of different types of people who work as motivational speakers, celebrities, sports stars, academics and any type of ‘expert’ you care to name. This makes your selection all the more difficult, and all the more important.

There are motivational speakers who are experts in their field of business and who have perhaps written a book or two. Even if they aren’t famous per se, your audience is probably familiar with them and respects them. This sort of speaker could be a very useful addition to training seminars or conferences, particularly if the event coincides with the introduction of a new business system for which your speaker can vouch. In order to motivate and inspire, expect the speaker to give examples of success stories. A speaker like this may even manage to convince your audience of your ideas.

Other motivational speakers are well known for their success but aren’t necessarily experts in a field. They are lower profile celebrities, maybe well known for winning a talent competition against the odds. This sort of person shouldn’t be written off though. They may be able to motivate by promoting an ‘anyone can do it’ attitude. Because they aren’t experts they may not be ideal for corporate events. But this certainly doesn’t mean they don’t work. Their personal stories still have motivational value for events such as graduations and weight loss groups.

Lastly and similarly, sports stars often work as motivational speakers. They can motivate using stories of hard work leading to success. These speakers are actually very flexible and have proven great choices at sporting events, educational events and even some corporate events.
