    The city of Ann Arbor Michigan, founded in 1824, has a population of more than 100,000 residents, a very large majority being college students. The University of Michigan is located in Ann Arbor and claims over 36% of the city’s population as students of its educational institution. The University, which was originally located in Detroit, is absolutely central to the composition and success of Ann Arbor’s economy.

    The University of Michigan provides jobs for nearly 40,000 people. In addition, graduates of the University go on to become successful Ann Arbor lawyers, doctors, and other prosperous careers.
